MARIA TIPUNA
Maria has a dazzling CV, compiled over 30 stellar years in the entertainment industry.
She has performed with national icons such as Mark Williams, Tina Cross, Bunny Walters and Ray Wolfe, and written and performed radio jingles and fronted many bands in Southland, Auckland and Melbourne, where she lived for eight years. Now she features regularly in a range of corporate event entertainment groups in New Zealand and across the Tasman.
In 2002 Maria tried her hand at musical theatre and almost immediately was cast in the role of Mavis in the stage version of Once Were Warriors, alongside Tina Cross. This led to a national tour and a new level of exposure. She has since starred in a range of productions, including most recently Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show, in which she played Magenta.
As a member of Fever, Maria opened for Boney M during their New Zealand tour in 2003. With LIPSTICK, she has become a regular part of the entertainment programme at national and international sporting events throughout the country. Maria, voted Southland Vocalist of the Year in 2008, has performed alongside Tim Beveridge and most recently was a part of the ILT Schools Sing Out shows.
With an extensive range of vocal styles - from soul to rock, country to classical, and almost everything in between - Maria is a sought after entertainer with a repertoire that can be adapted to fit any entertainment requirement.
But for now it's LIPSTICK and what a voice to complete the lineup!
